What is Yii and what is it used for?

Like Symfony, the Yii framework plays in the upper PHP framework league and also serves as a basis for developing web applications. The Yii framework can be downloaded from the Internet free of charge and can be used both privately and commercially free of charge thanks to the BSD license.

In terms of software architecture, the Yii framework is an object-oriented and component-based PHP framework. The Yii framework enables the efficient development of PHP applications based on existing base code. Direct competitors to Yii are PHP frameworks such as the Zend Framework or Symfony.
