Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
The year is drawing to a close and Christmas is just around the corner. We see this first and foremost as an opportunity to thank you for an eventful and successful 2017! At the same time, we want to review the past year and its events and take a look into the future.
Probably the biggest change concerns our location: the Pirates have set sail and moved to a new office in Ostfildern-Kemnat. Since our move in August 2016, we have been able to implement many new and exciting projects and have therefore been able to gain more Drupal 8 experience.
We are also delighted to welcome our new employees Michael A. Johnson (Senior Developer) and, from 2018, Maximilian Rabus, who has already completed his internship semester with us. We are therefore entering the next year stronger than ever, ready to tackle more exciting projects with new experience and fresh ideas.
To keep our employees fit for the upcoming projects and challenges, we have launched an e-bike program: Each of our employees has the opportunity to use an e-bike through the agency - a profit for people and the environment.
Our commitment to the Drupal community also remains unchanged: This year, the traditional Drupal coworking day took place again in our office. On this day, Drupal developers and interested parties can work on their projects with us and exchange ideas with other Drupalists about the CMS framework.
The relaunch of our customer Aventerra e. V. took place in the middle of this year. Aventerra offers adventure-based educational camps and trips for children and young people. At the same time, the association has been characterized by social commitment for many years. As an expression of our long-standing collaboration and to further support the association in its activities, arocom has agreed to donate 7,500 euros to the association.
2018 already awaits us and we are looking forward to new challenges such as the major Zehnder Group project. The Zehnder Group is an internationally renowned manufacturer of radiators and comfort ventilation systems based in Switzerland. In collaboration with the Zehnder Group and in cooperation with the agency 21TORR, over 35 websites will be developed over the next few years, which are characterized by complex interfaces and store systems, as well as addressing different markets and languages.
Next year, data protection will become even more important and will now be regulated with drastic penalties: The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on May 25, 2018. Unfortunately, all website operators will have to deal with the new regulations! We already dealt with the changes at the end of 2016 and implemented initial measures internally, enabling us to conclude data processing agreements. We are currently developing a package of measures to make your websites and data even more secure and to comply with the GDPR obligations. We will come back to you on this in the course of Q1 2018.
In addition, the "arocom-Suite v2" will be launched in 2018 to comprehensively expand website monitoring and maintenance automation. The aim of this investment is to further increase service availability and service quality in hosting, maintenance and development for you.
